Stuart can be commissioned to produce an illustration or painting specifically for you.  He has undertaken numerous commissions portraying homes, boats, pets and scenes for people who wish to give a unique and special gift to someone close or to have a special work of art for their businesses.  They make superb wedding and graduation gifts.  Stuart can work from photographs, normally requiring at least two or three different images to work from.  If the commission is a map in relation to Artistic Cartography, either suitable research material or photographs are required.

Commissioned pieces start at CA$500 with a 50% deposit prior to starting the piece and the remainder due at the end of the project prior to shipping.  The price may vary depending on various factors including the final image size, detail and difficulty of work and is converted into pounds sterling at the exchange rate prevailing at the time of payment.  Packing, carriage and insurance are additional to the basic price and are charged at cost.

Artistic Cartography is a relatively new concept that Stuart is pursuing, examples of which can be seen in his Showcase.  Basically, he uses a map as his canvas or, more accurately, his paper.  This could be a nautical chart or a topographical map and he has used maps issued by the National Geographic Society.  There is a huge array of maps available, which gives this concept endless possibilities.

Whether you have a favourite holiday home, canoe or boating trip, just about anything can be incorporated into a beautiful, truly original piece of art.

If you belong to a nature conservation group, this type of artwork would be ideal to demonstrate the importance of your work.  Artistic Cartography has a unique way of bringing the subject matter, albeit an endangered species or a threatened habitat, home to its natural location on the planet.
