If it breathes and lives wild in Australia, Sue has either painted it already or will in the future.  Native or feral, resident birds and animals and the landscape they live in are all subjects for this Australian artist.

Sue has been painting and drawing all her life, having sold her first drawing of horses when she was 15 years old.  Despite the demands of various jobs and the raising of a family, she has always maintained a strong artistic desire and has produced a constant but limited supply of work for successful sale and exhibition.  She now paints professionally and intends to continue doing so as long as she can hold a paintbrush.

With a solid background in highly detailed watercolours and drawings, Sue has moved on from this more traditional realistic approach to wildlife art.  She is instead pursuing a more impressionistic interpretation of her subjects in oils, the desire being to produce imaginative and creative artworks which still maintain an accurate and recognisable portrayal of the true nature and behaviour of a particular bird or animal.

A keen environmentalist with a degree in earth sciences, Sue has travelled extensively throughout the Australian continent in a 4-wheel-drive ute, camping in isolated corners, sketching, photographing and observing wildlife.

Her latest extended field trip in April-May 2004 has been across the Gulf of Carpentaria in Australia's remote north.  Encounters with crocodiles, brumbies, dingoes, barramundi (she ate those!) and the various birds of this area should result in some interesting paintings in coming months.

Her paintings are included in collections both in Australia and overseas.  One collection in the UK presently boasts 26 of her works.  A large proportion of her work to date has been sold through private commissions.  She has held several successful solo exhibitions, and is an exhibiting member of the Queensland Wildlife Artists' Society and the Wildlife Artists' Society Of Australasia, where she has won numerous awards.

Born in Sydney in 1950, Sue now lives on 100 acres adjoining a National Park on the Australian east coast, along with her dogs, horses, kangaroos and innumerable wild birds.
