Commissioned artwork details for Barbara Perrier Barbara is pleased to undertake commissions for landscapes or animals in representational style to be painted in oil on canvas. She has a special interest in large format artworks. She can work from photographs if required, which must be good quality, clear photographs that represent a good likeness of the subject. Depending on the nature of the commission and at the client's expense, Barbara can sometimes collect or provide reference material for the commission on behalf of the client. The client must bear in mind that, where a photograph is supplied as the basis of a commission, that is all that the artist will have to work from. An artwork produced by Barbara is subject to artistic licence for the best overall effect to enable her to enhance and enrich the subject to produce an outstanding work of art for the client. The first step in the process is to find out, in as much detail as possible, the scope of the client's requirements. Barbara and the client then agree on the size, materials and approximate price of a painting. The third step is the completion of a detailed drawing for which a non-refundable design fee of one third of the total projected cost is charged. The drawing is presented in the form of a sketch or computer facilitated composition for approval by the client. A limit of 3 designs with 1 revision will be submitted to the client, with any subsequent design work being charged at US$100 per hour. When a commission proceeds from the design stage to the creation stage, 50% of the balance due is paid prior to starting the piece with the remainder becoming due upon receipt of the painting. All oil paintings are produced on archival canvas using the finest quality oils and painting medium. When finished, a painting has to dry for approximately 30 days prior to a quality protective coat of Damar varnish being applied. It then has to dry for at least a further week following which it is crated and shipped to the client. The lead time required to complete a painting varies according to the size and complexity of the piece. As a general guide, a piece 16" x 20" takes about one month and a piece 30" x 40" around 6 months.
Commissions are priced from US$8 to US$12 per square inch depending on
difficulty of artistic requirements, with some sample prices
shown in the table below.
All prices are shown
in US dollars (USD), to be converted into pounds sterling at the
exchange rate prevailing at the time of payment. Packing, carriage and
insurance are additional to the prices shown below and are charged at cost.
